Seriously, this one of the coolest and most fun ravine & waterfall to explore. On top of that, hardly anyone knows about it! This is just a short drive from the famous Seljalandsfoss waterfall.
To get here, you must drive for a short period of time on an F-Road. The great news is that you don't have to cross any rivers. Having a 4x4 car insured for this road is necessary.

On the way to the Icelandic highlands is a stop that almostly completely hidden from view. Only adventurous locals and very "in the know" travelers are aware about this waterfall. After you park in the small lot, you walk for about 10 or 15 minutes to enter a gorgeous ravine. There are small bridges and a path in this fairytale like location. I love how the high mountain walls, vibrant green moss, and running water make it an oasis.
The real fun begins when you have to cross the stream to do a very small amount of climbing with a chain up to where the waterfall is. Having water resistant boots with a high ankle is necessary if you want to keep you feet dry because you will be stepping into water.
Once you are up on the plateau, the waterfall is there for you to enjoy. It's totally worth it to stop here, if you have the time.
