Towering basalt canyon walls combined with greenish blue water from the Jökla river crreate the insanely gorgeous Stuðlagil canyon. It’s unspoiled and remote location, making it the perfect place to experience magical Icelandic nature.
I remember my first time here like it was yesterday. I am still in awe every time I see this gorgeous place.
While the area is growing in popularity, it still feels relatively untouched and undiscovered.
There are two ways you can experience the canyon. One is from the observation deack on the right side or the other, which is by walking into the canyon via the left side. The walk is about 10 km roundtrip and is easy. There is hardly any elevation and being able to walk into this stunning canyon is so worth it (in my opinion).
Whether you are a professional photographer or want to get nice shots on your smartphone, the canyon's unique rock formations, contrasting colors, and stunning natural light make it an ideal place to capture some truly awe-inspiring shots.
