The Arctic Fox Centre is great for nature lovers that want to see Arctic Foxes up close without having to take a boat ride to Hornstrandir area.
Located in Súðavík, Westfjords, this non-profit research and exhibition center houses a wonderful exhibition focussing on the arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus), the only native terrestrial mammal in Iceland. Pay tribute to the long, hard war between man and the fox through stories, descriptions and materials from the past 1100 years. Through their contributions to wildlife ecotourism and research, the centre is a huge contributor to the cultural and natural history of the island’s vulnerable species.
