Isola Superiore, also known as Isola dei Pescatori or Fishermen's Island, is a charming little island in Lake Maggiore. It's located on the Piedmont side of the lake.
It's the only island that is inhabited all year round and here you can find narrow streets, cobbled alleys and picturesque lake promenade. It has many restaurants, where you can taste some local food, which is mostly based on fish.
It's perfect if you plan to try the local cuisine to come to Isola dei Pescatori around lunchtime.
As I don't really eat fish and wanted to focus more on exploring the islands, I only had a quick lunch with a sandwich that I brought from home. I still enjoyed sitting by the lake at the sun while watching this beautiful island.
The island is very small, being literally 3 streets. It has some great views of the lake though, and I'd still visit even if you don't plan to eat at the restaurants.
It takes about 30/1 hour to visit
