The Sentiero del Viandante is a picturesque hiking trail on the eastern shore of Lake Como. It offers incredible views of the lake and surrounding mountains, and it's an amazing trail for those that love nature and outdoor activities.
I'm not a pro hiker, and have only done a few hikes in my life, and this trail wasn't really that challenging. The only problem was probably the heat, but don't be like me and avoid doing this at 12 pm in the summer ahah
Sentiero del Viandante is very long, it's about 45 km long and I did only a very small part of it from Bellano to Varenna. This is what I did:
Train from Milan to Sondrio, get off at Bellano, which is the station right after Varenna. I put the pin exactly where the trail starts, so head there and follow the road.
At first, you go up a bit, and then it's pretty flat. It certainly gives you a unique perspective over the Lake.
It's about 4.8 km (around 3.5 miles) and it took me 1 and a half.
The spot called "Panoramic viewpoint over Lake Como”, I reached from doing this trail and for me it's one of the most beautiful viewpoints of Lake Como. You can perfectly see the two branches of the lake. I also put a video here, but for the exact location see the map.
