Message from Ashley Elliott

Located on the eastern coast of New Zealand's South Island, Kaikoura's seal colony is a must-see destination for wildlife enthusiasts. An estimated 2000 seals call Kaikoura home, consisting of three species - New Zealand fur seals, Southern elephant seals, and even the rare leopard seal. Visitors can take a guided seal-watching tour, or view the creatures from nearby walkways and platforms where they bask in the sun and socialize with each other. With responsible wildlife viewing guidelines in place, visitors can enjoy an exciting experience while protecting the safety and wellbeing of the animals.
