Osaka Castle is a prominent historical landmark in Osaka, Japan. It has played a major role in the country's unification during the Azuchi-Momoyama period in the 16th century. The castle is built atop two raised platforms connected by sheer walls of cut rock and overlooks a moat. Its main tower is five stories on the outside and eight stories on the inside. The castle includes a complex series of defensive fortifications, such as 13 structures marked as important cultural assets. History lovers will enjoy exploring this remarkable piece of history, from the Marked Stones Square to the Monument commemorating Hideyori and Yodo-dono’s suicide to seeing the original sharpshooter turrets. There’s also plenty to explore beyond the historic features, including a Japanese Garden and Osakajo Timecapsule Expo'70. This popular landmark is a wonder to behold and should not to be missed!
