Seigantoji Temple, located in Nachisan near Wakayama on Kansai’s west coast of Japan, is a beautiful temple with a picture perfect setting and a bold red three-story pagoda. This temple has a deep rooted history with roots in both Shintoism and Buddhism, offering visitors an insight into the often harmonious relationship between these religions. Perched in front of the stunning Nachi Falls, the pagoda is an example of man-made structure in synergy with nature. The site also holds many important cultural properties and on certain days, local wishes are believed to be granted by the enshrined deity. Seigantoji Temple is accessible by bus from Kii-Katsuura Station or Shingu station, allowing for an easy and fun exploration of this natural and historically rich area.
