White and pink sand, shallow turquoise waters, wind, abundant sunshine. These are some of the things you will almost always find in Elafonissi lagoon, one of the most impressive natural creations in Chania, located on the very end of the southwest part of Crete.

In order to access the shallow waters of the beach, you will need to park your car at the designated parking lots and then walk for a good 20 minutes down to the beach, so make sure you carry water and a hat with you, as the sun is always strong down there and the heat can be unbearable. Make sure you pick up your trash upon leaving.

Elafonissi is an ideal location for water sports such as windsurfing, since the wind there blows strong almost on a daily basis.
