This is undoubtedly one of Crete's most beautiful gorges.

It is located 20' away from Ierapetra and its crossing takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, which makes it a great option for a day trip. You’ll access it at Mythoi village and will need to do a little bit of climbing in some parts, but nothing too extreme. The cold waters run throughout the whole year, through the entire canyon, so make sure you wear a swimsuit. You won’t have to swim, as the water won’t be that high, but your feet and legs will get wet.

Crossing it starts at the entrance just outside the village of Mythoi. You will park your car at the parking lot or at the road and get right into the gorge. After getting to the greener part of the gorge, next to the river, you will eventually come across a point where there's asphalt road going right and left. Go right, get to the main road and walk back to where your car is. Hitchhiking is an option!

Extra tip: It’s better to sandals with a good grip, rather than hiking boots.
