Winter in Switzerland

The best things to do in winter in Switzerland, from winter sports to Christmas markets to epic viewpoints. I've included activities for all ages and abilities, for both sport-lovers and spectators.

For sport travelers, you'll find our favorite ski resorts, winter hikes, epic sled runs, and snowshoe adventures. If you are new to snow, I have epic mountain viewpoints you can easily reach with a cable car, as well as easy winter walks and sledding to get you started. If you prefer to stay warm, I have indoor fun like museums and thermals baths. Plus our favorite Swiss Christmas activities, particularly near Zurich where we live.

We've lived in Switzerland since 2005, raising two boys from babies to young adults. We spend most of our free time in the Swiss alps, collecting helpful tips that we share on SwissFamilyFun.com. We hope this guide and map make it easier to find what you're looking for and plan the best winter vacation ever in this gorgeous country!

Ever since I moved to Switzerland, Tanya's blog has been my go-to resource for planning our weekends and trips around here. Not only do I appreciate the breadth of her experience and the information provided, but also the structured manner and the utility of the details shared.

As a new expat in Switzerland, I have learned SO MUCH from Tanya @ Swiss Family Fun. I have followed her since my arrival on her website and find the guides she is writing for Rexby to be a fantastic trove of information.

It can be difficult trusting yourself in a new country when participating in a new sport as I learn my new language. Tanya's guides give such detailed information that I feel safe trying new experiences. I now live a life full of fun adventures. Thank you, Tanya. <3
