Titlis is a spectacular mountain viewpoint near Lucerne, a popular tourist destination all year round. Starting in the picturesque town Engelberg, you ride a small gondola car halfway up the mountain. Then transfer to a large rotating cable car to the Titlis glacier at 3020m.
At the top, you'll find epic panorama views and a few amusements including an ice cave and tunnel built into the glacier that you can explore. There's also a suspension bridge you can walk across and get your picture taken.
In summer, it's a novelty to walk on glacier snow. In winter, that's not quite as special, since you can experience snow in many other places.
Titlis gondola station - Gerschnistrasse 12, 6390 Engelberg. You can ride the train to Engelberg, then a short bus or walk to the cable car station.
A round trip ticket to Titlis starts around CHF 96, sometimes further discounted in winter. This outing is free with the Tell Pass. Discounted with the Swiss Travel Pass and other Swiss travelcards.
Note: You might notice that the ski pass is cheaper than a return ticket to Titlis. But ski pass is not valid for the rotating Titlis cable car the summit.
➡️ Buy tickets in advance to skip the line.
I suggest planning about 2-3 hours this outing. If you need more activities to fill out your day, we suggest stopping at the Trübsee middle station and do the easy winter walk around the lake. The snow is groomed on the trail so you only need warm winter boots to manage the path.
