Restaurant
Hotel Restaurant Schwarzsee is located on a mountain above Zermatt, part of the ski resort area.
The restaurant is nice place both skiers and non-skiers to enjoy a meal with Matterhorn views. A short walk from the hotel, you'll find the popular Matterhorn photo point with the Zermatt lettered sign. This is also the starting point of a snowshoe trail that leads to Stafelalp.
The hotel would be a unique place to stay, with direct access to the ski slopes.
The restaurant is open to the public from 9:00 - 15:30. For lunch, we recommend booking a table to avoid a long wait.
Hotel guests enjoy breakfast and dinner at this restaurant, usually included with your booking.
The restaurant has cozy indoor seating and an outdoor terrace with a spectacular view. They serve traditional Swiss mountain food, including dishes from the Valais region. You might try their "Valais Strudel," which is a savory version with potatoes, leeks, and apples.
The hotel is a typical Swiss mountain hotel, with simple furnishings. They have:
dormitories with three bunk beds and shared bathroom
double room with shared or private bathroom
triple room with three single beds and shared bathroom
quad room with two bunk beds and shared bathroom
Book room via their website or Booking.com
This hotel/restaurant is located on the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise side of the Zermatt ski resort (south end of the village). You can reach this hotel/restaurant directly with a gondola, no extra walk necessary.
If you are just riding up to the hotel restaurant, get to the Zermatt-Furi gondola station at Schluhmattstrasse 121, 3920 Zermatt. Ride up to the Furi station and then to Schwarzsee station.
Note: Some gondolas lead to Trockener Steg or Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. Those are not the same direction. Make sure you are going direction Schwarzsee. Ask the staff if you aren't sure.
If you are skiing to the restaurant, you cannot ski directly to the restaurant, since it's on a hill. From Trockener Steg or Furgsattel, follow any ski run that leads to Furgg. Then do a short gondola ride up to Schwarzsee.
