This winter hike is at the top of the Pizol ski resort. The mountains here are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Tectonic Arena Sardona. It sounds impressive and it is! It's an easy loop trail connecting two sides of the ski resort, with restaurants at both ends. You're above the trees, so wide open views the whole way.

On the way back down, you can stop at the Furt middle station and enjoy a 3.5 km sled run (sled rental on site).

Where to stay nearby

If you want to stay on the mountain, we enjoyed our stay at Berghotel Gaffia near the Furt chair lift. It’s a rustic mountain hotel, almost 100 years old, in a beautiful stone building.

In the valley, we can recommend Boutique Hotel Bellevue or Boutique Hotel OchSen, both in the center of the Bad Ragaz village a few minutes from the gondola station. For a luxury stay, stay at the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz, which has excellent restaurants and thermal baths, which are not exclusive to hotel guests.
