This short snowshoe trail is very charming, wandering above and around a tiny alpine village. Lots of big mountain views and pretty section through a forest, crossing frozen streams. After the hike, you can optionally sled 3k down the mountain, ending at the valley station.

How to get there
This trail is accessed by the Weissenberge cable car - Alte Strasse 7, 8766 Matt.
By car: There is a small parking lot next to the cable car or street parking as directed by staff. About 1h15 from Zürich.
By public transport: Train to Schwanden GL, then bus to Matt, Dorf. About 1h30-2h from Zürich HB.
On busy weekends, the cable car runs continuously, if there is demand. On weekdays, it runs about every 30 mins, hour break at lunchtime.
Optional sledding
If you want to sled, you need to rent the sled at the same time as buying your cable car ticket. Then pick up your sled and bring it up the mountain with you. There is no sled rental on the mountain if you change your mind later.
While you hike, you can leave the sled around at the "Rutschbahn" depot, 1 min walk after you exit the cable car station. We tied a scarf on ours so others didn't mistake it for theirs.
