Berggasthaus Forelle is a simple mountain hotel next to the gorgeous Seealpsee lake in the Appenzell region. It's a beautiful, relaxing setting in the alps, definitely a special experience.

They have 15 simple rooms, recently renovated in a clean modern chalet style. They have rooms sleeping 1-6, a nice option for families. Child cot available upon request.

The restaurant has regional Appenzell specialties including fish from the lake.

How to get there

You need to hike to the hotel, carrying your luggage (no luggage delivery service). The trail starts at the Wasserauen train station (metered parking here).

The path is a wide gravel/dirt service road, about 1 hour uphill, gaining 270m. See trail map.

Dogs are welcome (CHF 20/night, bring your own food). But you must follow the hotel rules: on a leash inside the hotel and no dogs on the beds.
