When the snow is fresh and we want to carve the first runs, we always choose Hoch Ybrig because it’s the closest to Zurich and doesn’t require driving up a winding mountain road.

It's a medium sized resort, with 50km of slopes. You reach the resort with a cable car from the valley. The resort has three chair lifts that service the main slopes. Lines are usually not very long.

As snowboarders, we love the wide open slopes with ungroomed powder fields between the groomed pistes. The groomed pistes are a bit steep at the top, which can be challenging for beginners. But once you have some basic skills, it’s full of possibilities.

Our kids particularly like the “racing track” which is a little trail with turns and jumps.

There is a sled run from the top of the cable car down to the parking. But it's often not open due to poor snow conditions.
