Grindelwald First is one of our favorite viewpoints in the Jungfrau Region any time of year. This winter hike lets you enjoy the views longer as you wind your way into the snowy mountains on this groomed trail, no snowshoes required. You can walk as far as you like then back the same way.
The trail leads to the Bachalpsee lake. In winter, the lake is covered with snow so don’t expect the lovely reflections like in summer. But the hike is still gorgeous and a good alternate to skiing.
Ambitious hikers will bring a sled and follow the trail all the way up to the Faulhorn peak. Then you can sled back down 6.5 km to your starting point. Or you can sled to Bussalp, where you can catch a bus back to Grindelwald.
Before or after your hike, don't miss the thrilling First Cliff Walk, a metal walkway built into the sides of the cliff wall. It has a suspension bridge and suspended walkway with a glass floor. Great place for photos of your crew with the Eiger as a backdrop.
