Oshino Hakkai is a touristy spot in the Fuji Five Lakes region with eight ponds fed by snow melt from Mount Fuji. Visitors can drink the cool water straight from the source and enjoy the clear spring water that filters down the mountain for over 80 years. Despite the crowds and developed surroundings, the ponds have a pleasant atmosphere with interesting plant life and large fish. Surrounding the ponds are restaurants, souvenir shops, and food vendors selling local products like vegetables, sweets, and crafts. Don't miss the cherry blossom views in mid to late April along the nearby river with a backdrop of Mount Fuji!
