Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba is a charming traditional Japanese village located on the shores of Lake Saiko. After being destroyed by a landslide in 1966, the village was lovingly reconstructed and transformed into an open-air museum and craft village. Visitors can explore over twenty thatched-roof houses converted into shops, restaurants, and museums, each specializing in traditional crafts like pottery and weaving. You can even try your hand at making incense bags or owl figurines in hands-on workshops. Don't forget to check out the Erosion and Sediment Control Museum to learn about the village's history and techniques to prevent disasters. It's a perfect place to immerse yourself in Japanese culture and pick up some unique handicrafts!
