Stetind is an extraordinary mountain located in Narvik, Norway. It has an unmistakable obelisk-like shape, making it stand out immensely. In 2002, listeners of NRK voted for it to become the "National Mountain" of Norway. With its steep sides reaching all the way down to the fjord, Stetind is also a popular destination for climbing enthusiasts; the first ascents were attempted as early as 1888 and finally completed by Ferdinand Schjelderup, Carl Wilhelm Rubenson and Alf Bonnevie Bryn in 1910. The achievement was marked with the building of Halls fortopp, cairn built by Carl Hall and the Norwegian mountain guide Mathias Soggemoen close to the main summit. With breath-taking views, winter climbs, and challenging rockfaces, Stetind is the perfect natural highlight for any outdoor enthusiast vacationing in Norway.
