Yasaka-jinja Shrine is one of the most revered places of worship in Kyoto. This Shinto shrine has been a sacred site for centuries, and its main hall is nearly 360 years old. Visitors flock to the shrine for the vibrant energy that pervades the atmosphere and to receive blessings for all their hopes and wishes. It is most famous for Gion Matsuri, a month-long festival celebrated every July, during which Kyoto becomes a city of celebration. The iconic red gate gives visitors a stunning view of the main shrine grounds, featuring an offering hall and a central stage illuminated by lanterns. After dark, the area surrounding Yasaka-jinja Shrine comes alive with restaurants, while a stroll through the shrine grants visitors a truly magical evening experience.
