The Syncline Loop is one of the longest and most difficult trails in Canyonland National Park’s Island in the Sky district. The hike takes you below the rim and winds through various canyons providing stunning desert views along the way. The Syncline Loop packs tons of adventure into one day hike, which is why it’s one of my favorite hikes near Moab.
Portions of the trail can be challenging to navigate, so carrying the 10 essentials, including a physical map, is essential. The Syncline Loop is a difficult hike and requires some scrambling to complete. It is not for beginner hikers, but it’s one of the most scenic hikes in Canyonlands National Park if you’re prepared for the challenge.
