This stunning, family friendly riverside walk is one of my favourites and great for keeping the kids entertained.
It starts along the beautiful woodland boardwalk at pont-y-pair bridge before joining the riverside path all the way to the Miners Bridge - a huge wooden staircase crossing the river at a beautifully scenic spot with waterfalls and views down the valley. The easy mostly flat path is a lot of fun for kids(made from rocks and boulders) and has loads of shallow paddle spots along the way to stop for a break and a paddle.
This is an out an back route but if you are looking for a longer day out you could try extending the walk to swallow falls or Llyn Elsi (see separate listings on the map)
What we love

❤️ Short and mostly flat
❤️ Grassy picnic spots by the river
❤️ Ice cream and coffee shops at the start/finish
❤️ Boardwalk through the forest to start

❤️ The first section is pram friendly up to a lovely little paddle spot

The Miners' Bridge in Pont-rhyd-y-groes, Wales, is a historic structure that crosses the River Ystwyth. It was originally built to provide miners with access to the mines in the area. The bridge has since been rebuilt and serves as a reminder of the village's mining heritage. Visitors can enjoy picturesque views of the river and surrounding landscape from this charming bridge.
