Located at the summit of Grindelwald First, First Cliff Walk is designed for those who seek a thrill while enjoying impressive views of the Swiss Alps. Perched at an altitude of 2,200 meters (7,218 feet), the Cliff Walk offers a unique perspective of the surrounding peaks.
To get to the First Cliff Walk, start by taking the Grindelwald Firstbahn cable car from Grindelwald. The ride itself is scenic and sets the stage for your adventure. Once you arrive at the top, you’ll find the Cliff Walk easily accessible close to the gondola station. The walkway features a series of suspended bridges and viewing platforms that extend out over the edge of the mountain, providing thrilling views into the valley below.
One of the highlights of the First Cliff Walk is the 45-meter-long observation platform that juts out into the void, giving you a feeling of walking right into the stunning mountain scenery. As you walk along, you’ll encounter a 40-meter-long single-cable suspension bridge, which adds an extra element of excitement to your journey.
The pathway is well-maintained and designed for visitors of all fitness levels, although those with a fear of heights may find it challenging. It’s important to note that strollers and wheelchairs are not permitted on the walk due to its narrow design.
