Pragser Wildsee, also known as Lago di Braies, is a stunning lake located in the Braies Valley in the northeast corner of the Italian Dolomites, just 16km from Dobbachio. It really is a must see place to visit in Italy!

Situated 1,496m above sea level, it’s recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site and referred to as the “pearl of the Dolomites”. With blue waters and a striking mountain backdrop, it’s hard not to fall in love with this spot. With its emerald waters, charming boat house, and majestic mountain backdrop, it's no wonder this place has become an Instagram sensation.

But there's more to Pragser Wildsee than just a pretty picture. You can take leisurely walks around the lake, rent a rowboat for a unique perspective, or simply soak in the breathtaking beauty of the surroundings.

Whether you're an avid photographer or just someone who appreciates nature's wonders, Pragser Wildsee is a must-visit destination that will leave you in awe.

🚗Getting to Lago di Braies is relatively easy. The national road SS49 leads directly to the lake, connecting several major highways. This makes Lago di Braies accessible from a number of major cities, as well as other areas in the Dolomites, for a day trip. A 2hr 45min drive from Venice, Italy or if staying in the Dolomites,just a 45min drive from Cortina d’Ampezzo.

🛶One of the of the highlights of Lago di Braies is of course the lake itself. With its stunning turquoise waters and the iconic boathouse nestled at it’s shore. Whether you choose to rent a boat and set off exploring the lake or just simply soak in the beautiful views, this lake is an absolute gem in Italy. (Please keep in mind boat renting season is June -September)

🥾There is a 2-mile hiking trail that circles the Lago di Braies, offering some of the best views in the Italian Dolomites. The hike around the lake takes around 1.5 hours. The path is relatively flat, making it an easy hike for any fitness level.

🌄 Lastly, the sunrise and sunsets at Lago di Braies are absolutely breathtaking! The way the golden light bathes the majestic mountain peaks and reflects of the turquoise waters. It really is a must see in the Dolomites.
