Rostrevor Forest Park is located near the village of Rostrevor, on the shores of Carlingford Lough in County Down. The forest is part of the Mourne Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Home to Cloughmore Stone, the stunning Kodak Corner and some outstanding views, it’s one my favourite places in County Down and in my top 10 favourite places to visit in Northern Ireland.

Rostrevor Forest is part of the wider Rostrevor Wood, Rostrevor Forest is a popular starting point for the Mourne Way, a long-distance trail that traverses the Mourne Mountains. The trail provides stunning views of the surrounding landscape, you can enjoy scenic views of the Carlingford lough and the surrounding mountains. I recommend you start at the Visitor Centre to learn about the forest and extraordinary Cloughmore Stone. There are tennis courts, play area, sports fields, an arboretum, walking and bike trails in the forest too.

Visit the Cloughmore Stone

You can make a short drive or climb up to the Cloughmore Stone from the upper car park. The views are phenomenal ! The 50-ton erratic sits on the hillside 1000 feet (300m) above Rostrevor. It was deposited eons ago by retreating glaciers. The perfect photo spot!

Hike to Kodak Corner

One of the most popular spots in Rostrevor and one of my top 5 favourite views in Northern Ireland, has got to be Kodak Corner. It truly is photo worthy and one of the best spots to watch the sunset! This hike offers stunning views across Carlingford Lough towards the sea. The trail enters an area of woodland where you step out onto a natural belvedere with a magnificent views. Bring a camera and a picnic!

Try the Narnia Trail

The Narnia Trail is a popular trail often overlooked. A family fun trail that captures the magical world and characters from Narnia. Benches, child-size doorways, a maze, the White Witch and carved sculptures bring the stories to life along the half mile trail.
