Message from Tony Xia

We stayed here in 2021 for a board game night, and it was fantastic. The place was incredibly clean, and the setting was pure countryside Japan—surrounded by rice paddies and mountains. We were pleasantly surprised by how new and spotless everything felt. You can join Zen meditation sessions early in the morning, though it’s optional. The food was also superb; the Sukiyaki we had was especially delicious. This place is top-tier!

About:

Ryūtaku-ji is a Buddhist temple in Mishima, Japan, known for its connection to the Rinzai school of Japanese Zen Buddhism. Founded by Kūkai in the Heian period, it was later relocated by Hakuin Ekaku in 1761. The temple has a rich history and has been revitalized over the years, with influential abbots like Soen Nakagawa supporting the study of Zen by Westerners. With a serene garden and a legacy of spiritual practice, Ryūtaku-ji continues to be a place of contemplation and learning for visitors from around the world.
