Little Table Rock is in Linville Gorge near the classic Table Rock. Because of this, it often gets overlooked. If you're backpacking Linville Gorge, this is an excellent spot to set up camp for the first night. If you're not planning on doing the whole gorge, you can take the National Forest Road (Table Rock Mountain Rd) to the Table Rock Summit Trailhead. The camp spot is a little over a half a mile from this parking area.

Things to keep in mind:

  • this is not car camping so you will need to pack in your stuff

  • bears are super common in this area. NEVER store your food in your tent (bring a bear bin or put it in a sack at least 200 ft from your camp) and make sure you have bear spray on you.

  • ALWAYS pack out your trash. Leaving trash behind will attract bears and increase the likelihood of human-bear interactions.
