Siglufjörður is a small fishing village located in the north of Iceland. This quaint town has been home to herring fishing since the 1940s, and today provides an interesting attraction for travelers looking for a unique cultural experience in rural Iceland. Siglufjörður's biggest attractions include its Herring Festival, held annually in August, and the Herring Museum located in Róaldsbakki, a historic building from 1907. Additionally, Siglufjörður hosts an annual music festival in July, and has a picturesque Protestant church consecrated in 1932, as well as several other fascinating sights. With its convenient connections by road and air, Siglufjörður is the perfect destination for an eclectic, culturally-rich trip!
