The trail wanders through cherry orchards in northern Switzerland, where the trees bloom in mid April. on this easy spring hike near Basel in northern Switzerland.
Shorter loop: 1h15 • 4.1 km • 120m up & down • see trail map
Longer loop: 2h30 • 8.6 km • 290m up & down • see trail map
Most people do the shorter loop, which visits the main cherry orchards. The longer loop passes by many more cherry trees, dips into a forest for awhile, and visits some castle ruins.
The path is on a smooth wide path, good for families and suitable for strollers.
When to go: Typically the blossoms are ready about mid-April and last about 10 days. You can follow the #chriesiwäg hashtag and Aargau Tourism on Instagram to see pics from the trail and see if it’s blooming yet.

Note: This trail has become very popular and is crowded on the weekends. Best to go on a weekend and early in the day.
How to get there
By public transport:
Take the train to the Frick station. Then a 10 min walk to join the trail (see on map). Or you could take a bus from the Frick train station to Gipf-Oberfrick, Brücke, which is close to the official start of the trail.
By car:
Drive to Frick, taking exit 15 off the A3 freeway. We suggest parking at the Gemeindehaus at Landstrasse 43, Gipf-Oberfrick.
