These spectacular waterfalls are a fun day trip from Interlaken, starting with a beautiful ferry ride on the gorgeous Lake Brienz. Then a short ride on a vintage funicular up to the Grand Hotel Giessbach, where you have a great view of the falls without any extra effort.

If you feel motivated, you can wander on a trail up along the falls, with some sections taking you underneath the roaring water.

Then back to the restaurant for a delicious meal with a view, best to make a reservation. There's also a kiosk selling snacks for takeaway.

This outing is a good choice in spring when the water levels are the highest.

How to get there

You can catch the boat at Interlaken Ost (west side of lake) or Brienz (east side of lake). You ride to Giessbach (See) where you can catch the funicular up to the hotel and falls viewpoint. See BLS boat schedule.

The boat also stops at Iseltwald, which has the famous dock from the Korean show Crash Landing.
