The Giessbach Falls on Lake Brienz are a stunning series of waterfalls, cascading down the mountain in 14 stages, dropping a total of 400 meters.
It's a fun day trip from Interlaken, starting with a beautiful ferry ride on the gorgeous Lake Brienz. Then a short ride on a vintage funicular up to the Grand Hotel Giessbach, where you have a great view of the falls without any extra effort.
Open: usually April thru late October
This outing is a good choice in spring when the water levels are the highest.
What to do
If you feel motivated, you can wander on a trail up along the falls, with some sections taking you underneath the roaring water.
Then back to the restaurant for a delicious meal with a view, best to make a reservation. There's also a kiosk selling snacks for takeaway.

How to get there
By boat: You can ride a boat on Lake Brienz to boats to the Giessbach (See) stop. From the boat dock, ride the funicular train up to the hotel and falls viewpoint.
You can catch the boat at Interlaken Ost (west side of lake) or Brienz village (east side of lake). See BLS boat schedule.
By car: You can reach the falls by car, but you must drive on a winding mountain road, not my favorite. See parking on Google Maps. About 20 mins from Interlaken.
