Lavertezzo is a charming village nestled in the picturesque Verzasca valley in southern Switzerland. It's famous for its double arch stone bridge and crystal clear water rushing over beautiful rock formations in the river.
In summer, many come here to sunbathe and swim in the icy cold water. While we're not crazy enough to jump off the bridge, it's fun to watch brave souls leap off, doing flips into the icy water.
It can be a dangerous river, with very cold temps and strong currents. So be very careful! No lifeguards on duty.
With children and anyone who is not a strong swimmer, it's better to cool off in the semi enclosed natural pools within the rocks, where you can more safely dip in without high risk being swept away .
A couple hundred meters down from the bridge, below the falls, there is a calmer part of the river that is safer for swimming and some grassy lawns for lounging.
