10:45 have a walk around spend a few mintues.

Situated in the center of the vibrant city of Athens, the Zappeion is a large, elegant building that today serves as an exhibition center. It was constructed with funding from benefactor Evangelis Zappas who desired to revive some of the old Greek traditions.

The design for the building was drawn up by Dutch architect Theophil Van Hansen and work began on it in 1874, taking 14 years to complete. Today, the Zappeion stands beautiful in landscaped gardens known as the National Gardens, which feature wandering paths and neoclassical statues.

It is a popular destination for those looking to uncover Greece's Olympic history, as the fencing competition of the 1896 Olympics were held in the atrium and the building served as an Olympic village during the 1906 Games. An important landmark for Athens, the Zappeion is loved by many and offers a unique place to explore!
