Reykjavík is the northernmost capital in the world and plays a key role in Iceland's cultural, economic, and governmental activities. It is an incredibly safe, green and clean city that is known for its amazing natural wonders. Located on the southern shore of Faxaflói Bay, Reykjavík has become an increasingly popular tourist destination over the years. It is said that in 874 CE, Ingólfr Arnarson was the first to permanently settle in this area and there are stories about how he decided on the location of his settlement by throwing his high seat pillars overboard and following them shore. Today, there are many interesting sights to explore such as Fríkirkjan, Hallgrímskirkja, and Perlan, providing visitors a fantastic glimpse into Iceland's legendary past.
