Despite what you might read online, I found this hike challenging. Platteklip Gorge starts quite relaxed but then it gets steeper and stepper the higher you climb up Table Mountain. It might only be 2.8 kilometers long but you sure get a workout!
Even though it's challenging I would recommend it because it's popular and really well marked – two very important things to take into consideration when hiking in Cape Town. I still recommend that you never hike alone.
When you get up to the top of Table Mountain, you can stroll around a bit and take the Cable Car down. Make sure to check when the last cable car is going down and also if the cable car is running on that day or you might be stuck on the mountain!
