Frostastaðavatn is an incredible lake in the Highlands of Iceland with a spectacular backdrop of colorful, rhyolite mountains. This area is famous for its geothermal activity which often colors parts of the lake a vivid blue or green. Not only that, but this area is also home to some of the country’s most spectacular hot springs and to one of the country’s most notorious and explosive volcanoes, Hekla. Its shores are accessible via the highland routes and offer breathtaking views over the interior of the country. Any visitors here will have access to some amazing tours of the Highlands as well as a wealth of birdlife and local fish called Arctic Char. Whatever your plans, Frostastaðavatn is sure not to disappoint!
