This lake comes with the most thrilling ascent by the steepest open air funicular. really already that is an experience in itself. But once you made it to the top and recovered from the adrenaline, it's time to actually start the hike. I recommend to do the round hike if you just want to capture the beautiful lake reflections from different angles. If you instead want to hike up to the hut and get some more elevation uphill in then do so towards Gelmerhütte (this will take 1:50h more and additonal 535m of elevation) :) A sure footing and no fear of heights are essential when standing on the steep cliff edge looking down to the turquoise lake.
