The hike to Narvtinden remains one of the Lofoten Islands’ lesser-known adventures, offering solitude and a taste of untouched wilderness. From the road, the peak may seem daunting and challenging, but don’t let that intimidate you—it’s far less technical than it appears. The reward? A breathtaking panorama that spans the surrounding peaks, a shimmering lake, and the dramatic fjords.
Starting Point:
The adventure begins in the small village of Mølnarodden, nestled between Hamnøy and Ramberg along the E10 highway. Park your car here; this is where the trail starts. The coordinates for Google Maps: 68.009900, 13.166133.
The Route:
From the parking area, follow the road for a short distance before reaching a trail on the right hand that winds upward into the hills. The initial ascent is steady and manageable, though you may encounter patches of mud and slippery sections—sturdy hiking boots are a must. After about 2.5 kilometers, the trail steepens considerably, with some exposed sections requiring surefootedness and a good head for heights. Reaching the summit, you’ll be rewarded with an incredible 360-degree view: on one side, the serene expanse of the lake, and on the other the Selfjord. It’s a moment of pure magic in the heart of Lofoten’s rugged beauty.
