Carmel River State Beach park is a picturesque mile-long beach located at the mouth of the Carmel River in California. Hikers can enjoy the 1.5 mile-long trail that runs along the beach and coast. Boaters can enjoy exploring the scenic Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and its rich diversity of wildlife. Popular activities include fishing, scuba diving/snorkeling, enjoying the beach, and viewing the bird sanctuary in the lagoon. Nature lovers can take part in interpretive programs, while adventure seekers can hike on their trails. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a leash. Monthly volunteer days are also available for visitors to get involved in the stewardship of the park. Whether it’s wading in the water or spotting animals along the beach, Carmel River State Beach has something for everyone!
