Hot Spring
Hot Spring
Historic
All ages
I stay at this onsen town whenever I'm hiking Adatara Mountains. It's an onsen town surrounded by mountains and very secluded.
About:
Tsuchiyu Onsen in Fukushima Prefecture is a hot spring town with a twist - they're all about sustainability and innovation! After the 2011 disaster, the locals didn't give up. Instead, they set up a geothermal energy plant using the natural hot spring waters beneath their feet. Now, they're a shining example for other hot spring towns in Japan. But that's not all - you can soak in rejuvenating waters, try delicious onsen eggs, and admire the local Kokeshi dolls. Plus, the town is surrounded by stunning nature that changes with each season. It's a must-visit spot for a relaxing and unique experience!
