Tsutanuma Pond is one of the seven enchanting ponds known as “Tsuta no Nana Numa” or the Seven Ponds of Tsuta. This area is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, with vibrant greens in spring and stunning autumn foliage in October.

Highlights

  1. Tsutanuma Pond and Autumn Reflections
Surrounded by native beech trees, Tsutanuma Pond offers idyllic landscapes that transform with each season. May brings lush greenery, while October unveils a vivid display of autumn colors. For photographers, the prime time is early morning on a calm, cloudy day when the morning sun rises, illuminating the area in warm red tones and creating mirror-like reflections of the foliage on the pond’s surface.

  2. The Seven Ponds of Tsuta
The “Tsuta no Nana Numa” includes Tsutanuma, Kagaminuma, Tsukinuma, Hyotannuma, Suganuma, Naganuma, and Akanuma. A 2.8-kilometer hiking trail, “Numa Meguri no Komichi,” begins near Tsuta Onsen and winds through the ancient beech and oak forests, allowing hikers to explore six of the seven ponds (excluding Akanuma) in about two hours. The trail is a serene experience, accompanied by the chirping of wild birds and the gentle sounds of water—a perfect setting for a peaceful hike. The trail is especially popular in October for the spectacular autumn foliage.
