Historic
When I was there, I noticed a fun and popular tradition—people holding up a 10 yen coin to snap a photo with the Phoenix Hall in the background, since the temple’s iconic structure is depicted on the back of the coin.
Besides that, the entire atmosphere is serene, and walking through the peaceful Pure Land gardens makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a painting. The temple itself, especially the Phoenix Hall, is breathtaking with its elegant reflection on the pond, and you can feel the centuries of history surrounding the place.
