For one of the best views of Mt. Fuji up close, taking the Hakone Ropeway is a must. The ride offers unparalleled views of the majestic mountain as well as the stunning Owakudani Valley, known for its active volcanic activity and sulfuric hot springs. While you can drive up to Owakudani Station, the ropeway gives you a much better vantage point, allowing you to take in the beauty of both Mt. Fuji and the valley from above.
About:
Hakone Ropeway connects 4 major stations - Sounzan Station, where you can transfer to the Hakone Cable Car, Owakudani Station, a popular sightseeing spot with many visitors, Ubako Station, which leads to Ubako Hot Springs and Togendai Station on the shore of Ashinoko Lake. Many travelers use this ropeway to see the beautiful natural sights of the surrounding areas. For example, from Sounzan to Owakudani you’ll be able to see the bottom of the Owakudani valley and the sulfuric smoke rising from it.
