Message from Tony Xia

One of my favorite spots along the shores of Lake Kussharo is Sunayu. Here, you can dig into the sandy beach to create your own personal hot spring bath. It’s a fun and unique experience for everyone. Even in winter, the warmth of the hot spring keeps the area from freezing, making it a gathering place for flocks of whooper swans migrating from Siberia—a truly magical sight.

About:

Sunayu is nestled within Akan-Mashu National Park. In winter, it’s a haven for photographers who come to capture the stunning views of Mount Mokoto and the swans on the lake. This place has even earned the title of "the most beautiful swan lake in the world" from photographers and has been featured by global media like the BBC. In the summer, it’s a popular camping spot where you can enjoy the natural hot springs and foot baths.
