Just a short walk from the ferry port is this temple overlooking the ocean. It's quite beautiful but the location as a whole has become too touristy.
About:
Godaido Hall is a small temple hall located on an islet next to the pier in Matsushima. It's like the cool kid of the town, with a history dating back to 807 and some pretty rad statues inside. The building was reconstructed in 1604 by local lord Date Masamune and features carvings of the lunar calendar animals on its exterior.
