This is my most recommended Japan Alps hike for beginners.
I come to Mt. Norikura often, not only for the stunning views but also for the incredible mountain huts situated right up there at 2,700 meters. Staying overnight here makes it easy to catch the sunrise from a nearby viewpoint—just a quick 15-minute hike from the hut in the early morning, creating an unforgettable start to the day.

Trail Overview
The trails here are ideal for beginners, offering a variety of hikes ranging from 2 to 4 hours. The main route from Tatamidaira to the summit is accessible and well-marked, making it perfect for those new to mountain hiking or looking for a relaxing day in nature. The trail takes you through scenic alpine landscapes with panoramic views and is manageable for most fitness levels.

Starting at Tatamidaira, the main trail takes you on a gentle ascent towards the summit. Along the way, you'll pass through fields of wildflowers in summer and enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding mountains. The path is well-maintained and features several rest areas and viewing spots, making it a relaxed and enjoyable hike ending at Kengamine.
