This is an easy, scenic hike that takes you around the top of Odaigahara, offering multiple viewpoints and a variety of landscapes, from dense forests to wide open vistas.
By Car:
Drive to the Odaigahara Visitor Center, where free parking is available.
By Public Transport:
Take a bus from Kintetsu Yamato-Kamiichi Station to Odaigahara Visitor Center (operating seasonally).
Odaigahara Sanso: Located near the trailhead, perfect for an overnight stay before or after your hike. Offers cozy accommodations and local meals.
Dorogawa Onsen Ryokan: About an hour’s drive from Odaigahara, this traditional inn offers hot springs and a relaxing atmosphere, ideal for unwinding after a day on the trails.
Distance: Approx. 9 km (loop)
Duration: 3 to 4 hours
Incline: Minimal, around 200 meters
Difficulty: Easy – Suitable for beginners and families. The path is mostly flat and well-maintained.
This loop trail offers a perfect introduction to the beauty of Odaigahara. The hike begins at the Odaigahara Visitor Center and winds through rich forests, past moss-covered rocks, and out onto open ridgelines with stunning views. Along the way, you'll pass through iconic spots like the Daijagura Cliffs, which provide breathtaking views over the surrounding valleys, and Hide-ga-take, the highest point of the trail. You may also encounter deer and rare birds along the path. This trail is perfect for those looking to enjoy nature without too much exertion.
