If you're looking for a budget-friendly way to experience Kamikochi, Konashidaira Campground is a great choice. While Kamikochi accommodations tend to be costly, this campground offers affordable lodging right in the heart of Kamikochi’s stunning natural landscape. However, keep in mind that Kamikochi is known for frequent rain, so be prepared for wet weather and bring waterproof gear. On the upside, Konashidaira has excellent facilities, including a hot bath to relax after a day of exploring.

Campground Facilities:

  • Hot Bath Facilities: The on-site hot bath offers a warm retreat after a rainy day.

  • Kitchens and Toilets: Clean facilities with cooking stations, dishwashing sinks, and well-maintained toilets.

  • Coin-Operated Laundry: For longer stays, the laundry facilities can be convenient.

  • Cabins and Tent Rentals: Aside from tent sites, they also have cabins and tents for rent if you want more coverage.

Tips for Staying at Konashidaira

  1. Prepare for Rain: Bring waterproof camping gear and tarps. Most campers experience at least some rain during their stay.

  2. Arrive Early: Campers often arrive in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the peak crowd and secure good spots.

  3. Pack for Cold Nights: Temperatures drop in the mountains, especially in autumn, so warm gear is essential.

  4. Nearby Attractions: The campground provides easy access to popular hiking trails, including the Taisho Pond and Myojin Pond trails.
