This is where I began my hike into the stunning Kuju Mountains in Kyushu. The full trail takes about 6–7 hours for a day hike, but if you’re short on time, you can opt for a shorter route to the first viewpoint, which only takes about an hour round trip.

About:

Starting at Makinoto Pass Trailhead (Mt. Kutsukake), the spot offers everything you need for a comfortable adventure. There's a spacious parking lot, clean public restrooms, and even a cozy shop where I treated myself to a delicious soft serve before heading out. It’s the perfect gateway to explore the natural beauty of the Kuju region.
